Upgrade to ASP.NET & SQL Server

Upgrade your Classic ASP application to ASP.NET in part or in whole.

There are plenty of technical reasons to upgrade to ASP.NET, and we at Supporting ASP recommend any new development is done on the ASP.NET platform. However, upgrading an entire application requires lots of careful planning, and an acceptance that it will not necessarily be a quick process.

If you have decided that you do want to upgrade to ASP.NET, then we can help with a considered strategy that will cause zero or minimum disruption to your existing systems. Typically we upgrade ASP applications in sections, with Classic ASP and ASP.NET running side-by-side. This allows for a staged deployment of the upgrade.

It may be the case that we only need to upgrade part of your system, this is usually where there are a lot of business process going on behind the scenes. As part of the upgrade process we usually recommend replacing legacy VB DLLs with .NET, as the conversion process for these libraries is typically quick and simple, and once on the .NET platform, further modifications and updates are simplified, and will not disrupt 'uptime' of the application.

Upgrade your database to SQL Server for better reliablity and performance.

At Supporting ASP, we understand that you may not need or want to upgrade your application or web site to ASP.NET, but how's your database doing?

You may be using a Microsoft Access database, a Visual FoxPro database, or perhaps even an Excel or text file based data store.
Each of these has very limited performance, if your application or web site has many users, or is data-intensive, you should consider upgrading your database to SQL Server. We can help plan the upgrade, perform the upgrade and transfer the data, we can also make the neccesary changes to your Classic ASP application or website, so that it will work as efficiently as possible with SQL Server.
